The more efficiently you can pack your storage space the less space you will need and the more money you will save. The following Packing Tips are designed to help you wrap, pack, box and store your goods in your storage unit so they are stored in a safe and efficient way.
• Start with the small stuff.
• Wrap items in protective products such as bubble wrap, tissue paper and butchers paper. Clearly mark items fragile.
• Defrost your fridge several hours before your move, this will avoid water damage.
• When storing your fridge ensure you leave the door wedged open as this will allow air flow and prevent mildew build up.
• Pack heavier items into smaller boxes.
• Do not overload the boxes, particularly the larger ones.
• Dismantle as many pieces of furniture as possible, they will take less room and will be easier to move.
• Pack electronic equipment with bubble wrap to prevent movement.
• Large objects can be stored on their sides to save space, so remember to wrap them in protective covers.
• Tape your storage boxes up well. Heavy duty boxes are best for stacking.
• Mark your boxes on their sides as well as tops. Tape a list of contents onto your boxes for easy identification of items.
• Start with objects you know you definitely will not need.
• Place large, items into your storage space first. Stack small items, especially boxes, on top, and underneath of large items.
• Stand long items on their side if possible. Remember, it’s All in One Storage so try to use the height of the unit to save money!
• Cover all furniture with dust sheets
• Use the space inside your wardrobes, desks, and dressers to store boxes and bags.
• Use one side wall of the space to stack boxes only as high as possible.
• Leave items that you want to access at the front of the space.
• Use mothballs, to protect blankets, clothing and linen.
• Do not store perishables or flammable items.
• If you do store lawn mowers, or motorcycles please ensure that you empty the fuel.
